The children get so involved in the game, feel they are really part of it. The thing is, they now are. That's their virtual life. They can make up a whole new life. Whole new name. Be someone else, someone more exciting and interesting and fun. Someone that'll be loved. They want to be more loved, more known. They use their real money they could use on themselves, and spend spend spend it on virtual money and a virtual membership. So they can advertise to get more friends, get popular and get virtual bling for themselves.
That's how stardoll gets people and gets their money. They rope in and prey on distressed preteens-teens. I myself feel lucky that I only buy superstar occasionally when I have extra money, and that I have a social life outside of stardoll. Though, I must admit that stardoll does feel like a relaxing getaway compared to real life at the moment.
School's getting harder and harder and the girls, sometimes ever guys, are getting bitchier and bitchier as they go through puberty and get older. All I have to say about them is that I hope their attitude calms down when they're older. No one wants to be with a bitter twat that works at McDonalds...
Now that I think about it, school is a lot like stardoll. You have the girls that want to be on top, they try and try and try but they can't make it. They act like bitchy little tarts. Still don't make it. The people up the top are effortlessly loved and it confuses people that they're loved at all. There are the laid back people who couldn't give a damn, but tend to hang out together which the wannabes and the populars think are 'lame'. Some people hang around in those groups, but keep up their popular reputation because they hang out with most groups. And lastly, the boys. There are a fair few that really care and are lovely and polite. Other than that the guys are total dicks and would do anything to get into the popular girls good books. They'll lie, they'll cheat to everyone else and the popular girls don't see that. All they see is the wonderful guy that they can be great friends with.
Yeah, just like school.
